News: Spyware Removal programs for free. |
 |
Furthur to my previous article I have been looking for more anti-spyware products that come highly recommended and, more importantly, are free. I have another two links for you...
AntiSpyware 2008 can be found at http://www.antispyware.com/. I haven't yet tried it out but it should be compatible with Vista and the write-up on the website seems impressive. I'll have to give it a testing to see how it performs. I'll let you know when I do. :)
--- *** update *** I have now tested the above program! The website leads you to believe that the software is free... it is not! It scans your system for free and to eliminate the threats it finds it asks you to register. You fill in a couple of details and then it takes you to their page requesting a one time payment... so, not free as it suggests. ---
Super Antispyware may be found at http://antispyware.org/. I have installed this once and it is currently running on my daughter's computer. It seemed pretty quick and effective, and it auto-updates it's spyware definitions.

Not to harsh on the system whilst scanning which is nice.

The free version does not update it's spyware definitions automatically, nor does it provide real time protection. I only discovered this last night. It seems that I must have mistakenly downloaded the trial version of the full product as it ran out yesterday. I went back on and downloaded the free version which still works but must be updated manually and run to check your system. I am now going to have to look further as without real time protection I don't think it's good enough.
I must admit, I do understand why people crack these sort of software programs, we really shouldn't have to keep paying through the nose to stop the idiots out there from wrecking our systems. I'm starting to believe that perhaps ISPs or corporate website owners should be held responsible for any spyware type software that infects your system! |
